These terms explain how UKSP memberships, community activities, creative bookings, model work and submitted content operate. They are written to protect everyone involved without removing anyone's legal rights.

About UKSP and these terms

“Social Photography”, “UKSP”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Social Photography (UKSP). “You” means a website visitor, member, client, creative, model, entrant, applicant, venue or event participant as the context requires.

These terms apply when you use the website, purchase a membership, submit an application or image, attend a UKSP activity, accept an opportunity, or ask UKSP to arrange paid creative or model work. A written quote, project brief or event rule may add project-specific terms. If they conflict, the more specific written agreement controls for that project.

UKSP may act as a community organiser, booking coordinator or creative service provider. The written quote will identify the role UKSP is taking. Where UKSP introduces an independent creative or model, that person remains responsible for carrying out their agreed services, while UKSP remains responsible for the coordination work it agrees to provide.

Bookings, quotes and UKSP's 10% commission

An enquiry is not a booking. A booking exists only after the scope, date, location, price, usage, expenses and any deposit have been agreed in writing and UKSP has confirmed acceptance.

The 10% arrangement

For paid creative or model work introduced, arranged or managed through UKSP, UKSP retains 10% of the agreed creative or model fee as a coordination commission. The remaining 90% is payable to the creative or model, subject to any lawful deductions they separately owe. Unless a quote clearly says otherwise, the client's quoted fee already includes this commission—it is not an extra 10% added at checkout.

Separately itemised and approved travel, accommodation, materials or third-party supplier expenses are normally excluded from the commission. Membership subscriptions, donations and refunded sums are not creative booking fees.

A creative or model must not use a UKSP introduction to avoid the commission. Unless UKSP agrees otherwise in writing, a paid booking substantially arising from a UKSP introduction and made within six months of that introduction remains subject to the 10% commission.

UKSP does not guarantee that an enquiry will become paid work, that any particular creative or model will be available, or that members will receive a minimum number or value of jobs.

Payment, deposits, cancellation and refunds

Prices, deposits, instalments, delivery times and payment dates will be shown before a booking is confirmed. Payments may be handled by Stripe or another stated provider. UKSP does not receive full card details.

Consumers may have a statutory 14-day cancellation right for distance contracts where the law applies. If you expressly ask for a service to start during that period, you may have to pay a reasonable amount for work already performed. If a service is fully performed after your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may end. Nothing here removes rights that the law gives you.

Project cancellations are handled under the written quote. Any retained deposit or cancellation charge will be proportionate to work completed, costs already incurred, lost availability and losses UKSP cannot reasonably avoid. UKSP will not use a blanket charge where keeping the full amount would be unfair.

If UKSP cancels a paid service and cannot offer a reasonable alternative, sums paid for work not supplied will be refunded. UKSP may pause or cancel for non-payment, unsafe conditions, unlawful instructions, harassment, serious misconduct, venue refusal or circumstances outside reasonable control.

Community and Professional Memberships

Membership prices are recurring monthly totals. The £5 Professional Membership replaces the £2 Community Membership; it is not an additional £5 charge. Current benefits are described on the joining page and may develop as UKSP grows.

Membership selection, recurring payment and access to the private Telegram community are provided through InviteMember, with payment processing handled by Stripe. InviteMember shows the available £2 Community and £5 Professional plans before a member subscribes. The terms and privacy information of InviteMember, Telegram and Stripe also apply when those services are used.

Membership offers access to community benefits, not a guarantee of work, income, attendance, business success or publication. Profiles and submitted material remain subject to approval. Members must keep account details accurate and must not share private access with non-members.

A member may change or cancel future renewals through the available InviteMember or Stripe controls, or by contacting UKSP. InviteMember may add or remove Telegram access according to the subscription status. Website-based Professional Membership features require separate UKSP verification and may not activate instantly after payment. Access may continue until the end of the paid billing period. UKSP may suspend or end membership for non-payment, abuse, fraud, unsafe behaviour or a serious breach of these terms. Statutory refund rights remain unaffected.

Independent creatives and the model network

Unless a written agreement says otherwise, photographers, filmmakers, content creators, models and suppliers taking UKSP opportunities act as independent self-employed providers, not employees, workers, partners or agents of UKSP. They are responsible for their own tax, insurance, permits, equipment, professional conduct and legal obligations.

Model applications are limited to adults aged 18 or over. A model controls whether to accept each booking. No enquiry is an obligation, and the fee, duration, image usage, clothing, location, attendees, boundaries, travel and safety arrangements must be agreed before the shoot.

Public profiles must be accurate and must contain only material the applicant owns or has permission to publish. UKSP may edit formatting, request evidence, refuse publication or remove a profile that is misleading, unsafe, inactive or unlawful.

Monthly meets, events, workshops and challenges

Monthly meets are informal community gatherings rather than supervised lessons, tours or professional childcare. Attendees choose their own activities, remain responsible for themselves, their equipment and their travel, and must follow venue rules and lawful instructions. Anyone under 18 must attend with a responsible adult unless a separately organised activity says otherwise in writing.

Events, locations, contributors and activities may change or be cancelled. Free attendance does not create a guarantee of a host, minimum attendance, instruction, access to every area or a particular photographic result.

Challenge entrants must submit their own eligible work and may submit only as allowed by the current challenge rules. UKSP may reject duplicate, unlawful, unsafe, infringing, manipulated or inappropriate entries. Public voting is promotional and community-based; UKSP may remove suspected fraudulent votes and its reasonable decision on administration and prizes is final. A stated prize is subject to availability and any published cap.

Images, copyright, publicity and client usage

Copyright normally remains with the person who created the photograph, video or other work unless a written agreement expressly transfers it. A client receives only the usage licence stated in the quote or delivery agreement. Commercial, advertising, resale, editing, sublicensing or expanded usage may require a separate written licence and fee.

By uploading work to UKSP, you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it. You grant UKSP a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize, display and promote that submitted work for the purpose for which it was supplied, including the directory, challenge, project archive and UKSP social promotion. You may withdraw future promotional use by contacting UKSP, but this may not undo material already lawfully published or printed.

Photographing a person does not automatically grant every form of commercial use of their likeness. Model releases, venue permissions, music licences and other third-party permissions must be agreed where required. The party supplying material or instructions is responsible for confirming that they are lawful.

Respect, boundaries and safety

UKSP expects respectful, inclusive and lawful behaviour. No harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, dangerous conduct, unwanted sexualised behaviour, deliberate damage, illegal activity or misuse of private contact details is permitted. Consent may be withdrawn at any time during a shoot.

Concerns should be reported promptly. UKSP may refuse an introduction, stop an activity, remove content, suspend access, contact a venue or authority, or end a relationship where it reasonably believes this is needed for safety, legality or the community's protection.

Responsibility and liability

UKSP will provide its own services with reasonable care and skill. It does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that consumer law does not allow to be excluded.

Subject to that protection, UKSP is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, indirect business losses, personal arrangements made outside UKSP, unauthorised direct dealings, third-party platform failures, or the independent acts of a creative, model, venue, attendee or supplier that UKSP could not reasonably control.

To the extent the law allows, UKSP's total liability arising from a particular paid service is limited to the amount paid to UKSP for that service. For a free service, it is limited to £100. These limits do not apply where the law says liability cannot be limited. Nothing limits a person's duty to take reasonable care of their own safety, property and equipment.

Complaints, changes and governing law

Raise service or data concerns at cambridgesocialphotography@gmail.com. UKSP will acknowledge data protection complaints within 30 days, investigate without undue delay, keep the complainant informed and explain the outcome. Service complaints will normally be acknowledged within 14 days.

UKSP may update these terms for legal, safety, operational or service reasons. Material changes affecting an active paid contract will not be imposed retrospectively without a lawful basis. If part of these terms is invalid, the remaining terms continue.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales will have jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory right a consumer has to bring a claim elsewhere.
